We finally had our papermaking day last Wed. There were 4 of us and it was great fun. As soon as I get all the pictures, I will post them on Smugmug so you can see them. But we didn’t pose in any of them. Diane Flack was the only one who had made paper before (you met her because she managed the instructor’s exhibit at CNW). She had a large wooden frame (11 x17) and she poured the pulp in from the top in a sink and then lifted the screen out. She likes the paper for bookcovers, so takes a thin piece of wet paper, puts a long ribbon down, and then another thin piece of wet paper to form a ribbon sandwich. She then squeezed the water outwith a towel, and it dried as one piece of paper that can be folded and tied to holdcontents like a book! Kay Hilt (who was in our CNW class with me) does a lot of books too, so she tried several of those. The rest of the time we used your method, we had embroidery hoops of 5, 6, and 7 inches (also 12, but didn’t use that). We had natural colors (learned that food coloring wouldn’t work) and shared the different fibers. Kay had some wood from her husband’s workshop and that was neat. I had some cotton laundry lint, which I just added to my paper. My goal was to get a couple of white rounds that I could try to write on and send to you. Does the diameter make any difference? I think my tweo whites are the 6″ . Pictures soon.
